Maximizing Your GPP Strategy: Analyzing Odds and Leverage for PGA Draftkings at the Sony Open 2024

Updated: Jan 11, 2024

This may be a rough draft of what you might be able to do with this week's tournament. I have not loaded 2023 results for PGA yet entirely and so that makes me a bit nervous but some data is better than none.

Odds and Situations

Updated to a more consolidated look. This would be my entire player pool and then just filter out guys you like or dont like.

Lets see what we have here. Fitzpatrick odds are showing as the top on this slate. His ownership not pulling through but he is not expected to be the highest owned - that is Henley right now. Aberg actually has the highest upside though, but falls below the value line for odds. These players must make the cut in order to see that upside come to fruition. The cheap side of the trend line looks thin as of now, so I will have to see about adjustments there in the next update.

Core but Leveraged Plays

Update: Of the two, my lean is Cam but we will see.

Only Si woo and Cam Davis appear on this list this week as of now. They fit the criteria across the board as players who should have success. Neither particularly highly owned.

Datagolf Insights

One thing noticeable right away is that it is the 2nd most predictable course on tour when it come to course history. The other thing of interest is that around the green play seems to be quite important here compared to driving and putting stats.

Performance Stats

I sorted this based on Around the Green play on that note. Kirk and B An stand out the most but all of these guys have had positive gains in this category.

History (minus last year)

These guys have had the most strokes gained at this course but does not include last years numbers. Kizzire will be interesting on that note. Same as Hideki when looking at more recent tournaments.

Recent form

These names have had recent history that looks positive. Not all on the PGA tour but it is worth considering due to low ownership.

Leverage Plays

These are names worth considering (2-4 golfers) when building a lineup for leverage purposes, based on odds, stats and ownership.

Underowned

I think getting to like 4 of these guys is ideal this week. Focused heavily on the ones with the line mapped out. Good luck!
